Stephanie Strother


Stephanie studies European art of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She received her BA with highest honors in English literature and European studies from Carleton College, and she obtained her MA in art history with distinction at the Courtauld Institute of Art. From 2017 to 2019 she was the Lunder Consortium for Whistler Studies Graduate Fellow at the Art Institute of Chicago. In this role she authored a catalogue on the museum’s collection of drawings and paintings by James McNeill Whistler (forthcoming, 2020). Her research interests include internationalism, materiality, popular art forms, and public consumption.
